Designing The Bathroom Layout

When you decide to remodel your bathroom or are building it from scratch it can be difficult to know everything that needs to be done. When designing the bathroom in your home whether it be for guests, children, or the master bedroom you have to consider a few key details. Although it is considered to be the smallest room in the house it is one that requires the most work.

We will step you through how to create the right layout for your bathroom so as not to waste space. During this process you want to keep in mind the budget (if any) that you have set up for yourself and the design ideas you have already considered to use. You may find that you will have to cut things out or that you might have room to add things in.

The layout of the bathroom will determine where the sink, toilet, and bathtub will be placed and how much room you will have for closets and/or walking space. You need to be very careful because some people will misuse the amount of space they are given. It is possible to make it too large or too small.

First consider how many people will be using the bathroom. When designing the master bathroom you may wish to build enough counter space to allow for two sinks to help keep things more organized. If only one child is going to use the extra bathroom then you will only need one sink – but maybe slightly more counter space to hold their make-up or other hygienic products.

In most cases you will have a specific space designated for the toilet, sink, and bathtub that is dependent on how the plumbing of the house has been set up. When this is the case the only thing that you have to worry about is how large or small these appliances will be. The size still matters because they might take up more space then you would like.

When you have a larger bathroom you must also consider other items that you wish to place inside of it. This list might include; towel racks, space savers, vanities, and closets. Those who have smaller bathrooms will be limited and although it would be ideal to have the vanity in their bathroom they might find it impossible. When designing the layout for the bathroom you have to consider the amount of walking space that is provided and whether or not any drawers or closet doors will have enough clearance.
