Choosing A Bathtub Design

There are many different types of bathtubs that we are able to choose from and that will work in various bathrooms. Once you know which type you want (Clawfoot, Acrylic, etc.) you have to decide the type of design it should have. We will take you through the most common designs that may be used in your next bathroom. These different designs cost anywhere between $900 to $3,000 giving you many options.

Freestanding Bathtubs

This is a classic bathtub design that is usually used for Clawfoot bathtubs. It allows people to be able to decorate their bathroom to take on an almost vintage and Victorian bathroom theme. At one time it become out dated and no one wanted it. But just like with clothes these out of date bathtub designs suddenly became popular once again and were wanted by everyone.

You can find these made with acrylic, porcelain, and cast iron. The cast iron will be much more expensive to use – but it does help to give your bathroom a more unique look to it. The acrylic on the other hand is much more affordable and easier to maintain. Though they look like their ancestors this type of bathtub design is lightweight.

Standard Corner Bathtubs

People who have a limited amount of space to use for their bathtubs would find it easier to use the standard corner design. This is used on the majority of American bathtubs and can be found in various models, brands, and sizes. It is designed specifically to sit smoothly into a corner so as to save space for other things.

Depending on the amount of space you have to work with it is possible to find some that have a much deeper interior. This will make it easy for you to choose something for one person or for two. To know what will work best in your bathroom you only have to measure the area.

Pedestal Bathtubs

The pedestal bathtubs are a more unusual type of freestanding bathtubs that are best used in modern and contemporary homes. The bathtub sits on a special stand rather then feet that helps to keep it in one place. With this bathtub design you can place it on one wall or even in the middle of the room depending on the type of plumbing that you have.

Like with the free standing design these are offered in cast iron, acrylic, and porcelain. Porcelain is a great material to use and is higher quality then acrylic – but with the same appearance. The only problem with this is that it is much more expensive and does require more upkeep to keep it looking nice.
