Bathroom Design Ideas

Before you know what flooring, colors, and accessories you will be using in your bathroom you must first choose a theme for it. The best thing to do is sit down at a table with pen and paper and come up with unique ideas. Try to determine what type of things you love and what you would like to see every morning.

Master Bathroom Themes

When choosing a theme for your master bathroom you have to consider something that both you and your spouse will enjoy. Most couples prefer to use something that is more neutral so as not to get too feminine or masculine. When this is the case the theme can be contemporary or modern where there is a blended mix of soft and vibrant colors.

Great choices in colors include tan, light brown, dark brown, light blue, and light green. Each of these help to add a dramatic or soft look depending on what you are looking for and give you room to use any type of bathroom accessories and fixtures that you both can stand to look at.

Children Bathroom Themes

Children’s bathrooms are probably the most fun to decorate because you can truly be creative with them. The younger they are the more room you have to choose something that is silly or completely unique. For the younger children why not choose their favorite Disney character to center the room around.

You always want to choose light and vibrant colors that will help to make it more appealing for them. You want them to look forward to brushing their teeth every night and getting a bath each morning. Be creative and try to use a mural on one whole wall or sponge paint the entire room.

Guest Bathroom Themes

When decorating the guest bathroom you want to make it dramatic and something that will catch their eye. This is your chance to create a theme that you would cannot be easily used in other parts of your home. The most common to use is the beach or lighthouse theme.

Whatever theme you decide on make sure to use the appropriate colors and accessories. Make use of the wall space that you have (no matter how small it may be) and put up pictures to show people exactly what you love. If it is a lighthouse theme then place a painting of a lighthouse with crashing waves. You can even put little lighthouse miniatures on a shelf next to the sink.
